What I'm working on
My research currently revolves around questions about the fundamental nature of physics. Famously, quantum mechanics and gravity apply in separate regimes, a puzzle that is deeply unsatisfying for physicists who are looking for a single physical theory. Black holes are an arena where gravity is important, yet they can be formed out of matter that is quantum mechanical.
Some big picture questions that arise
- How do we describe the “inside” of a black hole?
- Can we use quantum computers to simulate black holes?
- What are the ways we can quantify how much power quantum computers have over classical computers?
